Overview
ECBA™ is an acronym for Entry Certificate in Business Analysis. Pursuing ECBA™ provides aspirants with a certificate that recognises individuals entering the field of business analysis.
ECBA™ covers the foundational knowledge on business analysis according to the BABOK® Guide and showcases that an individual have the core knowledge and competencies for the in–demand field of business analysis. The certificate highlights an individual have the knowledge and be certified by the leading authority in business analysis, IIBA.
Note: ECBA™ is also commonly known as 'Entry level business analysis' or 'Level 1 IIBA business analysis'.
Why is ECBA™ known as 'Level 1'?
The reason is simple. There are four levels of business analysis certifications that IIBA™ offers:
Level 1 - ECBA™
Level 2 - CCBA®
Level 3 - CBAP®
Level 4 - Senior strategic business analyst.
We will focus this blog on Level 1 only.
Who is this certificate beneficial to?
This certificate is beneficial to:
Any individual newly entering the BA profession;
Students enrolled in Business Analysis academic programs;
New (or recent) graduates;
Professionals in career transition; and
Any manager(s) who are not business analysts, but does some analysis or manages business analysts.
Certification alignment:
The BA Practice course material is aligned with the latest BABOK® v3.
For Level 1, the following proficiencies are the measurement criteria for the competencies specifically, each learning objective will be stated as:
Basic Knowledge - Has a fundamental awareness of basic skills and knowledge involved in the competency.
Understands - Recognises the key elements of the competency and why they are important. However, not expected to have the experience nor skill level to act upon the competency.
Follows Rules - Ability to adhere to prescribed ways to work in order to execute activities related to the competency. Generally, needs rules and guidelines to perform tasks.
Course training prerequisites:
There are no training prerequisites except we would like you to be motivated and have the enthusiasm to learn globally recognised best practices in business analysis.

The BA Practice will provide you with:
A training completion certificate will be provided by the BA Practice. View course schedule. The course competition certificate will make you eligible to apply for an exam application with the IIBA. Yes, the certificate will have the minimum required 21 PD hours mentioned for our students to proceed to next stage.
Thorough understanding of the basic concepts of business analysis - as per the BABOK® guide v3.
ECBA™ Exam prerequisites:
Ensure you register an account with IIBA.
Complete a minimum of 21 Professional Development (PD) hours within the last four years. Your hours can be logged and tracked here. A training completion certificate will be provided by the BA Practice. View course schedule.
