Are you telling me SRs and FRs are different?

Yes, there really is a difference between Stakeholder and Functional requirements.

One of the practices we fix in various organisations is the use of correct terminology. There are many analysts still referring Stakeholder Requirements as Business Requirements. Also, many analysts confusing the difference between 'Stakeholder and Functional Requirements'.

In theory (and as per BABOK v3), any individual or group that a business analyst is likely to interact with directly or indirectly is a stakeholder. Therefore, if they are providing you with information whether Business or Technical, then they are your stakeholder(s). This input is used to prepare your stakeholder requirements.

However, Functional Requirements are different and quite detailed in comparison to Stakeholder Requirements.

Find the difference between Stakeholder vs Functional (solution) requirements here.
